Where Do you Draw your Strength From?

Some people might say money, job, family, friends or God. I was asked this question from someone at college in one of my classes and it has me thinking a lot. Sometimes life can cause one to wonder "what is going on?" Nothing ever seems to go right and when seek help, there is no one to help.

 I, myself have been through a lot in the past and there are still things that are happening that are out of my control. With all the troubles that come in my life, it is God who I draw my strength from. I think there is an importance of knowing where we draw our strength. We should look to God as our source of strength. God can bring others into our life to encourage us, but when there is no one else, God will always be our strength. No matter what you go through, look to Him, who is a Comforter.

Fear of Change

For some people the word "change" has no affect on them. For me I would say change is something I am still learning about. I have three semesters November is ending soon, grad school search will be beginning, possibly moving to a different state, being on my own....All of these thoughts run through my head.  I feel like life is moving so fast and all I can do is watch everything change. So many wonderful things are happening in every ones life and I don't know where I stand or be in the future. The "unknown" is a concept that I struggle with and sometimes hard for me to handle the thought of it. I feel like I am just waiting for something to happen that will be big. There is a lot that I don't understand about what is happening in my life. I don't like it that I will don't be graduating with my class in May 2011 and my roommate (roommates for all 4yrs)  will be gone while I have to go through another semester. I think a lot of the possibility of lon…

Make War!!! (John Piper)

“I hear so many Christians murmuring about their imperfections and their failures and their addictions and their short-comings, And I see so little war! ‘Murmur, murmur, murmur… Why am I this way?’ MAKE WAR!”

Only the Good Die Young

Bible Verse this Morning

Psalm 19:7-13

7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; 8 The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes; 9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. 10 More to be desired are they than gold, Yea, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. 11 Moreover by them Your servant is warned, And in keeping them there is great reward.

12 Who can understand his errors? Cleanse me from secret faults. 13 Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; Let them not have dominion over me. Then I shall be blameless, And I shall be innocent of great transgression.

True Woman Movement- Chapter Nine

This is the last chapter of the book and I am glad to say I have learned a lot. This book put in me a hope and desire to be a woman of God, that trust, walks in Truth, that surrenders to Him, that prays, and live love and know Him.

My Prayer:

Abba, I can't believe that I am Your child. My sin separated me from You but now I am Yours because of Christ sacrifice. Thank You for saving someone like me who is unworthy of Your love. I live in a world that lives for themselves. My prayer is that I would live for You, that You would be the center of my life. When people choose to follow that ways of this world, I want to choose You. My desire is to know You, to be pure, and guard my heart. I am content at where I am as a single woman. I trust in You, no matter your will for me to be married or not. I want to serve You without distraction. I can't see the future or do I understand all things, but I trust You. Help to live everyday as if it is my last, to honor and glorify You in this …

True Woman Movement- Chapter Eight---Leave Behind a Legacy of Prayer

I remember when I was in high school, I was challenged to get up early in the morning to pray. I decided that around 5:30am, I would get up and pray to God. I had my prayer journal of requests from other people and I would start praying for them. Before I knew, I saw prayers being answered and I loved spending time with God. There was a delight that grew in me to spend time with God in prayer and reading the bible. I loved that I could communicate with a God I was once separated from because of my sin.
This past week in a small group, everyone was asked "what do you think you will be remember by once your gone?" I thought once I am gone, I want to be remember as a "praying woman of God." I love to pray for others, there is nothing like being before the Father and praying. I do pray that if I ever have a family, they will see my heart for prayer and not only them but others who know me.
I would encourage everyone to spend more time with God in prayer. Getting to kno…

True Woman Movement- Chapter Seven

1 John 2:5-6
5 But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. 6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.

1 Peter 5:10
10 But may[a] the God of all grace, who called us[b] to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.

True Woman Movement- Chapter Six

When fear takes over, it can control our lives. I know for me when fear takes over I feel my heart beating faster, can't sleep and my body starts shaking. As I said before in my other post, I express my fears of the future and the unknown. If we decide to let fear control our lives, we start not believing and trusting in God and His promises. We quickly forget about the God we serve and who He is.

Psalm 9:10 (New King James Version)

Nahum 1:7 (New King James Version)

A stronghold in the day of trouble;
And He knows those who trust in Him.

True Woman Movement--Chapter Five

Hannah's Story:
When I think of Hannah's story, I am encouraged to trust God. I absolutely love Hannah for trusting God when she was constantly "teased" by her rival Peninnah. Trust was a struggling issues for me because of past hurts and disappointments.

Sometimes in life, we are put into situations that we do not understand and we can get upset and become angry. Instead of trusting to God for help, we might choose to handle the situation ourselves, thus becoming more frustrated and angry.

Hannah was a woman that went to God with her worries, she cried out to God about what was on her heart. And when God answered her prayers for a child she praised Him and kept her vow of giving back her child to the Lord. I pray that we all will trust in the Lord no matter what the situation, our God knows what He is doing, He is Faithful and our Provider.

Tonight I'm Exhausted

This is the third week of school and I am really tried. So far, I have been through all of my classes and have enjoyed them. All the classes I am in is related to my social work major. This semester I have to do a lot of reflection in journal assignments. I think it is awesome to be able to write out what I am learning and observing. I am really enjoying my internship at Head Start. This week I called a lot of parents to set up appointments for me to do home visits.  I can't believe it that I will be meeting parents to do a assessment of their family. Tomorrow, I will start home visits and I look forward to what I can learn about the families I will meet. Pray that God will continue to direct me in this new journey and direct me to what area of social work, He will have me to work in. Pray that I will not let my busyiness to get me off track with school work and spending time with God.

Back at College...

This semester will be busy and I will try my best to update my blog. I will be interning at a Head Start and will need to get 200 hours each semester, on top of that working and assistant of a social work organization. I am excited about starting school and ready to learn all I can as I take four social work classes. Please pray that I will be able to mange my time with all the responsibilities that I will have. Pray that I will not get off track with spending with God.

Avon Foundation - Speak Out Against Domestic Violence

Someone gave me a bit of brick and a little slab of marble from Rome. It was wonderful to touch one of them and think, Perhaps the Apostle Paul or one of the martyrs touched this as they passed. But how much more wonderful is it to think that we have, for our own use, the very same sword our Lord used when the Devil attacked Him. [Brooke Foss] Westcott says "The Word of God" in Ephesians 6:17 means "a definite utterance of God". We know these "definite utterances" - we have the same Book that He had, and we can do as He did. So let us learn the "definite utterances" that they may be ready in our minds; ready for use at the moment of need - our sword which never grows dull and rusty, but is always keen and bright. So once more I say, let us not expect defeat but victory. Let us take fast hold and keep fast hold of our sword, and we shall win in any assault of the enemy.

My 180 days Bible Reading Plan

I have decided that along with reading and blogging about True Woman Movement book, I will begin a 180 day Bible reading plan. Here is an overview of how the reading will go. There is 180 passages from the 66 books of the Bible, I will get the underlying story of the Bible. I just want to be consistent in reading the Word because sometimes I can get off track. I am excited about this and I can't wait to see what I will learn in the Word of God. To see God's work in the Bible, will be an awesome experience. I also have decided that every week I will post what I have been learning in the Word. Praying that I will be consistent and continue to learn as I read the Bible.

Book Review on "Awakened" by Kennisha Hill

Interview with Kennisha Hill

1. Where did you get the inspiration to write Awakened?

Awakened was originally going to be written about the love story of my husband and I. The original title was going to be Endless Letter. I thought our story was so unique I wanted to get it on paper for our own private bookshelf. However, as I began writing it, I saw the Lord had a different plan for this book. It completely changed into a beautiful fiction story.

2. Did you pull from your personality for Tamara, the main character in Awakened?

There are some similarities there (laughing). As her character was being developed, I intentionally made her a little bit more intense than I am. My reaction to some of the circumstances she went through would probably have been a little different. She’s a tough cookie in there.

3. Awakened isn’t just a typical story that talks about finding love. There is a lot of very important biblical principles inside. Was this the intent of the book?

Yes! I place Awakened…

This Night Reading of the Word.....

Psalm 18:28-36 (New King James Version)

28 For You will light my lamp;
The LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.
29 For by You I can run against a troop,
By my God I can leap over a wall.
30 As for God, His way is perfect;
The word of the LORD is proven;
He is a shield to all who trust in Him.

31 For who is God, except the LORD?
And who is a rock, except our God?
32 It is God who arms me with strength,
And makes my way perfect.
33 He makes my feet like the feet of deer,
And sets me on my high places.
34 He teaches my hands to make war,
So that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.

35 You have also given me the shield of Your salvation;
Your right hand has held me up,
Your gentleness has made me great.
36 You enlarged my path under me,
So my feet did not slip.

Today is the Day.....

I really want to get out of my shell and share Avon products that I use myself. I finish my online training yesterday and I must say it was A LOT but at the same time easy. I have so many ideas on how to grow my business, for example talking to people about the products, asking people online if they want to receive weekly brochures from Avon, ads on penny saver, ads on craigslist, fundraising, etc. Praying over this business.

If anyone want to be put on my email list, in which I will email weekly brochures, visitMy Avon Site and check out the great products and buy what interest you.

Morning Bible Verse

Psalm 36:5-12 (New King James Version)

5 Your mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens;
Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.
6 Your righteousness is like the great mountains;
Your judgments are a great deep;
O LORD, You preserve man and beast.

7 How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God!
Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings.
8 They are abundantly satisfied with the fullness of Your house,
And You give them drink from the river of Your pleasures.
9 For with You is the fountain of life;
In Your light we see light.

10 Oh, continue Your lovingkindness to those who know You,
And Your righteousness to the upright in heart.
11 Let not the foot of pride come against me,
And let not the hand of the wicked drive me away.
12 There the workers of iniquity have fallen;
They have been cast down and are not able to rise.

True Woman Movement--Chapter Four

And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?" Esther 4:14
These are the words that Mordecai said to Esther when he knew that there were plans by Haman to kill off the Jews. Esther being married to the King was in a conflict. There was a law that if a man or woman go to the king inside the inner court would be put to death. Mordecai words was to point out to Esther that "who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this." Esther decided to put away all the fears she might had and began to fast and pray. Esther was a bold woman in which she said "I will go to the king, though it is against the law, and if I perish, I perish" vs. 16

I can't imagine my life being a tool in the hand of God. Can't imagine me playing a part in God's plans and purposes. I do find it amazing going through life, learning, growing, meeting new people, the ups and downs of life that my God is very much present, even th…

True Woman Movement--Chapter Three

Mary identifies in the book that the foundational premise of feminism as: “[We] need and can trust no other authority than [our] own personal truth. The women of the feminisnist movement, had the belif in self-fullment and trusting in their ways. When we choose to trust in ourselves we choose to go against the ways of God.

When we choose to trust in God:
Psalm 32:10
Many sorrows shall be to the wicked; But he who trusts in the LORD, mercy shall surround him.
Isaiah 26:3
You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.
Psalm 5:11 But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You; Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them; Let those also who love Your name Be joyful in You.

When you choose to trust in yourself:
Job 15:31 Let him not deceive himself by trusting what is worthless, for he will get nothing in return.

Jeremiah 17:5
This is what the LORD says: "Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on flesh for his strength and whose …

True Woman Movement--Chapter Two

God knows everything about everything---He is all-knowing---He is unsearchable---He is inscrutable---He is inexhaustible

What a God we serve!!! As I continue to get to know and spend time with Him, I am getting to how powerful and awesome He is. I must remind myself of who He is, because I know I quickly forget about the God I serve. My God knows everything about everything; there is nothing that He does not know.
I use to worry about the future and what could happen next. I  realized that it was me, wanting to have control over everything, truth is, I can't control everything and I don't know "everything about everything."

When we, began to know the God we serve, we start to realize that He is able to carry us through whatever will come our way, Instead of worrying about everything or wanting to know everything, we should trust in the Creator of this universe. There is no need to question the Creator about, "if He knows what He is doing". We might not un…

My Summer Internship Experience

Interning at Child Abuse Prevention Center has been a great experience. I am learning so much and realize even more how much I want to reach out to children. To be able to teach them about Christ and show them the love of Christ.  There are so many people of all ages in this world that are hurting and it saddens my heart. There is so much going on in the lives of people, that just hearing their stories will bring tears to your eyes. I want to be able to reach out to people and point them to Christ. I just want to encourage the believer's to pray for people who are struggling, in pain, and/or been abused in anyway. Everyday, someone is going through a tough situation, and they need encouragement and help. Pray that we as God's children will point people to Christ.

True Woman Movement--Chapter One

Pastor John Piper states in the book that:
“Wimpy theology makes wimpy women . . . . Wimpy theology simply does not give a woman a God who is big enough, strong enough, wise enough, and good enough to handle the realities of life in a way that magnifies the infinite worth of Jesus Christ.” “plagued by woman-centeredness and mancenteredness.”  pg.19
Question: "Would your theology most accurately be described as “wimpy” or “God-centered”?
When we don't know our God for ourselves, we can be very easy to be swayed by what others say about the Word of God. When we don't remind ourselves of who He is, it can be easy to forget how powerful and merciful our God is. I have this urge to know my God for myself and learn all that I can about the God I serve. Everyone has their view of who God is and what He can do, but when we read the Word of God, there is no mistaking in who He is.
The Word of God is our guide, the Word gives life, the Word give instruction and the Word convicts us. As…

True Woman Movement

I am starting to read the book called Voices of the True Woman Movement A Called to the Counter-Revolution. This book includes authors like Nacy Leigh DeMoss, John Piper, Mary Kassian, Joni Eareckson Tada, and Janet Parshall.

Revive Our Hearts is asking women to read the True Woman Movement book and blog about each chapter. I have decide that every week probably on Tuesdays (since I don't work), to blog about the chapters I read for the week.

This True Woman Movement Goals:

•Discover and embrace God's design and mission for their lives
•Reflect the beauty and heart of Jesus Christ to their world
•Intentionally pass on the baton of Truth to the next generation
•Pray earnestly for an outpouring of God's Spirit in their families, churches, nation, and world

Intimacy With God

When I think of "intimacy with God," I think of a relationship in which I am able to be vulnerable and to be open in communication with God. I also think of the Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I believe that the Trinity is a great model to intimacy.

I also think that intimacy with God is a privilege. When man sin against God, there was a separation between us and God. We were seen as an enemy to God, But because of Christ sacrifice, we are now able to stand before God and be in fellowship with Him. Since we have this privilege and a gift, we should have a relationship with God. We are after all created to know Him, so we should get to know Him.
I would encourage that we not neglect the One, who created us and formed us in His image. God longs for us to be in relationship with Him. I know how life can distract us and and how quickly we can get busy, pray that we don't let our "busyness" get in the way of having a relationship with God.

Happy 22nd Birthday to ME!!!!

Yay....its official I am 22 years old today. I can't believe this day is here and I get so excited when it's my birthday. I was thinking of all the awards and gifts I have gotten since I was a young girl. I am so thankful that I am here and thankful for everything I have in this life. Though I got gifts on my birthday, I have to say the greatest give I have ever received was the "Gift of Salvation." I thank Abba for saving me, in Him I am free and redeemed. I thank Abba for His Son scarf ice of the Cross, I have life in Him. Because of Christ sacrifice I am now justified by faith, have peace with God, have access to the Father and I can stand before God in grace (Romans 5).
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God; Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Happy Father's Day

To all the father's in the world. I want thank you all for taking care of your families; being a provider and protector. This day is sometimes is hard for me because I don't have my dad in my life since he passed away with prostate cancer when I was eight. I decide to post some memories I had with him:
1) I remember for Halloween him coming in my room to scare me...I thought it was so funny because I knew it was my dad 2) I remember him teaching me how to ride my pink bike....He was patient with me as he taught me 3) My dad had this white Cadillac and to me I thought it was the most beautiful car and it was so clean. I loved that he would take me places in his car. 4) I loved it when he would take me places like McDonald's 5) Though I don't remember, I saw a picture of him and I  dancing together at a wedding. I thought it was so cool to see that picture.
I can't lie I still miss my dad. But I do have an Heavenly Father, that I see as my ABBA. I remember when I was young…

Well I Have A Problem

Lately my right hand has been hurting a lot and swollen and I can't write or type without being in pain. I will try to post a few post this month, but I'm not sure. I can say that I will check out the blogs I read and if possible to leave comments. I would also ask for you all to pray that my hand will get better. Thanks so much and God Bless.
